Promo Trailer For Wild Salome Starring Al Pacino

salome

There was a time when Al Pacino was the man for the job when it came to memorable roles, Michael Corelone in Godfather, Tony Montana (and his little friend) in Scarface. But more recently we know the actor is fan of the literature classics of Shakespaere and mostย notably Oscar Wilde with a great passion for own of his plays Salome. 5 years ago whilst performing a stage version playing King Herod, the actor got himself a crew and decided to get footage and follow footsteps of the writer and try and understand the thoughts behind the work he adore so much.

The footage has now been collated, edited ย ,directed by Pacino and we have Wild Salome the documentary /drama which is the final result. Its mostly the documentary but also has parts of the Salome played out by Pacino along with a then unknown actress called Jessica Chastain (The Tree Of Life) as the drama comes from 2006! I’m a little unsure what to think of this but what this movie certainly does is offer study at the manic fascinating mind of Al Pacino and his passion for all things Oscar Wilde, no word on release info but the first preview of the documentary can be seen at Venice Film Festival.

Is it me but when you watch the trailer is Al Pacino paying homage to Rab C Nesbitt?ย ย

Wilde Salome invites audiences into the world of Al Pacino as never before, offering a deeply intimate portrayal of the cinemaโ€™s greatest icon, playing his most demanding role: himself and King Herod. Brimming with shockingly candid moments, Wilde Salome ventures with Pacino all over the world, to London, Paris, Dublin, New York, Los Angeles and to his dressing room backstage; nothing is off limits as Al Pacino explores the complexities of the play, the trials and tribulations of Wildeโ€™s life, and in the processย offersย an unprecedented look at his own. At once touching and deeply funny, Pacinoโ€™s journey in Wilde Salome is one of passion, determination and above all, obsession. Tom Stoppard, Gore Vidal, Bono, Tony Khusner, and Oscar Wildeโ€™s grandson Merlin Holland also appear in the film.
