Planes, Trains & Automobiles To Be Remade With Will Smith And Kevin Hart?

Planes, Trains & Automobiles (1987)

Planes, Trains & Automobiles  is one of the timeless classics that deserves more praise. It now looks like John Hughes 1987 underrated road trip comedy is about to be remade by Paramount…With Will Smith and Kevin Hart!

Deadline broke the news today  with Hart’s Hartbeat Productions and Smith’s Westbrook Studios producing the film. The film also set to be the writing feature debut for Brooklyn Nine-Nine‘s Aeysha Carr. Her other accolades include Rel, The Carmichael Show, Mixology, Everybody Hates Chris, and My Wife and Kids.

No filmmaker has been connected to this project yet.

Steve Martin and John Candy starred in the original film. The film tell’s the story of a mismatched duo forced to become travelling partners in a desperate attempt to get home to loved ones for Thanksgiving. When all their flights are cancelled, a slew of holiday travel disasters follow as they attempt to get home.

As in what character Smith and Hart plays is unknown at this stage. If by going by the actors filmography, Smith will probably player Steve Martin’s character and Hart John Candy’s. But is stopping the actors just starring in their own road movie? Both actors can be funny but also psychical too which this film will be.

Hollywood seems obsessed in remaking, rebooting, or making sequels decades after the previous movies. This news will excite people especially with who they want to lead the new version. The news will also annoy many folks, not on the actors, just the thought someone wanting to remake a treasured movie. The success of recent remakes has n’t been very good, Smith and Hart have appeared in big movies, which critically weren’t very good either.

This project is still in early days, things could still change.
