Phillip Seymour Hoffman To Join Child 44 Cast

One thing we can say about Phillip Seymour Hoffman he is very active. Along with his personal drug addiction issues which has seen the actor check into his nearest Betty Ford Clinic after an relapse he has a number of films he’s signed up to and it now seems he has another film, Child 44.

He’s just recently finished The Hunger Games: Catching Fire the actor has announced he’s signed up to star in God’s Pocket but now Deadline he will be joining Tom Hardy, Noomi Rapace, Gary Oldman, Jole Kinnaman and Fares Fares on Child 44. The film is been directed by Safe House helmer Daniel Espinola (his second English language feature) with Ridley Scott producing based on a best selling Tom Smith novel. Child 44 is set during 1950’s in  Stallin run Soviet Union Hardy plays an police officer investigating a series of child murders that lead him to unravel clues that lead to the higher powers of the government. As expected they don’t like the police investigating which results in Hardy’s character been disgraced and accused of treason.

Rapace is playing Hardy’s onscreen wife with Oldman playing the chief of police who investigates Hardy as for Hoffman’s role we don’t know at this stage. We don’t know if his role will be a large part or simply a smaller role with an important to play in the outcome of the film and history shows these roles are just as big as the main characters, Kevin Spacey’s Se7en even his Usual Suspects parts come to mind.

Filming has already started in Prague so possibly an announcement of Phillip Seymour Hoffman‘s role in Child 44 might be made shortly, if not the film is expected to be released sometime in 2014.
