Pathe has released the UK Trailer to Spanish Auteur Pedro Almodóvar’s Parallel Mothers. Starring one of his long time regulars Penélope Cruz exploring the pains of motherhood through a middle aged woman.

The film marks the filmmaker’s 22nd film which has been touring the film festivals. Including its World Premiere as the opening night film at this year’s Venice International Film Festival. Tomorrow closing this year’s New York Film Festival, overall the reviews have been strong.

Cruz plays Janis a single middle aged woman who finds herself unexpectedly pregnant. Also in the same predicament is an younger woman Ana, scared and adolescent. Both women due to give birth very soon, a common bond that will link both sharing the pains, loves and experiences of Motherhood together.

Two women, Janis and Ana, meet in a hospital where they are about to give birth. Both are single and became pregnant by accident. Janis, middle-aged, has no regrets and is exultant. The other, Ana, an adolescent, is scared and repentant. Janis tries to encourage her as they move like sleepwalkers through the hospital corridors. The few words they exchange in these hours will create a very close link between them, which by chance will develop and complicate, changing their lives in a decisive way.
