Paddington 3 Is Officially A Go! Yessss!!!

Paddington 2 (2017)

Ladies and gents, make endless number of Marmalade sandwiches as Paddington 3 is officially in the works!

Through the wee small hours of the night Variety reported Studiocanal  have said the film is in active development. The studio stating ‘We can confirm Studiocanal is working very hard on film 3 with the utmost craft and care — as with film 1 and 2.’

Paddington regular Hugh Bonneville  was last week on Zoe Ball‘s Radio 2 show  teased “forward momentum” on the project, and that it was “somewhere on the horizon.”

We assume he’s talking about Paddington 3, if he is who will be joining him? Ben Whishaw is the voice of our favourite marmalade sandwich eating we expect will voice the bear again. He voiced the bear in the first two films along with the animated Television series The Adventures of Paddington, it’s expected he’ll return.

The one person sadly not returning for the third film will be the director Paul King. The report does say he will still be involved in some capacity, just not directing the film. King will be working with Warner Bros directing Wonka, the Willy Wonka origins film due out hopefully in 2023. David Heyman’s Heyday Films are returning to produce the third film.

Personally I wasn’t the biggest fan of the first Paddington film, however Paddington 2 I was. Both films were universally loved and the sequel film scored 100% on Rotten Tomatoes. Probably largely thanks to the film’s villain Phoenix Buchanan, brilliantly played by Hugh Grant. In the first film, Nicole Kidman was the villainous taxidermist, Millicent Clyde. Like some of the superheroes films, the villains are a big selling point, if they can deliver another Phoenix Buchanan they will be on a winner.

At this stage there is no word on what the story will be all about. Whatever they deliver we will love it!
