Sunday is not usually a day of news  however sad news has filtered through the regular movie news channels and frankly we’re lost for words. Oscar winning actor Phillip Seymour Hoffman has died aged 46.

Mr Hoffman was found dead in his Manhattan, New York apartment  where the reports are stating the actors suspected death due to a alleged drug overdose. At this we don’t like to speculate out of respect to the actor whose talent we adore at The People’s Movies, say what you like 46 years old is no age to die even the recent news of the actors problem with drugs came to light.

Like what actor John Hurt said  Phillip Seymour Hoffman was an extraordinary talent born Rochester , New York whose first taste for acting came from his Lawyer mother who took him regularly to theatre productions. It was when sporting Hoffman suffered many injuries when the acting bug kicked in which saw him go onto graduate from New York State Summer School Of The Arts. It was when finishing off at New York University where he’ll meet director Bennett Miller the biggest inspiration to his career.

Broadway  became his  door into tv then film and even years after debut on TV show La Law, Hoffman still worked in many theatre productions. His film film career was an mixture of independent films but Mission Impossible 3 saw the actor take a step into blockbuster movies with The Hunger Games: Catching Fire his most recent film. He was due to star in The Hunger Games 2 part finale Mockinjay , hopefully soon updates on these films will arrive soon. Hoffman’s next two films A Most Wanted Man and God’s Pocket, debuted at Sundance last month.

His crowning glory was winning 2006 Best actor award for Bennett Miller’s Capote, whilst further Oscar never unfolded he became a reliable regular figure in many director’s films especially Paul Thomas Anderson films.
