Paul Mescal is William Shakespeare in Hamnet

Universal Pictures asks you to open up your heart and watch the new second UK Trailer for Chloe Zhao‘s Hamnet.

The film marks Zhao’s first film since her journey into the Marvel Cinematic Universe with Marvel’s  Eternals (2021). Hamnet stars Jessie Buckley and Paul Mescal as Agnes and William Shakespeare.  This is a historical  drama of love and tragedy who had 3 children (Susanna and twins Judith and Hamnet). It’s when their son Hamnet dies , Agnes struggles to come to terms with William inspired to write one of his great works.

This is a fictional tale and the trailer showcases more of the story’s structure.  Anyone who knows the great bard his wife was Ann Hathaway not Agnes. Great score from Max Richter and great early reviews, suggest Chloe Zhao is back on form.

The rest of the cast for this one includes Joe Alwyn, Emily Watson, Jacobi Jupe, Jack Shalloo,  plus David Wilmot.
