Nimrod Antal Next Project To Be A Dystopian Thriller 'Paraffin'

source SlashFilm

We’re now getting very close to the release date for Nimrod Antal’s reworking of the Predators movie which will be out this Thursday 8th July (when it’ll be up against Twilight Eclipse which opens 9th July uk), so this week the cast and crew will be doing the press junket interviews to promote the movie.

When it open’s as normal the scrutiniser will be out and im sure the criticisers will have already wrote there displeasure for the remake even before they have seen any of the movie, I will be seeing it next weekend review will follow. So now that movie has been done questions are been asked…’what next next Nimrod?’

The Playlist caught up with Nimrod asking him about Predators as well as his next project which will be Paraffin a dystopian thriller, usually a movie with dystopia it’ll have a big sci-fi connection, here’s what he said:

I have a passion project that Iโ€™ve been writing for a few years called, Paraffin. Iโ€™m going to try to get that going. But at the same time Iโ€™m just keeping my options open and trying to appreciate the momentโ€ฆ[Paraffin] is actually the one I wanted to write and direct right after โ€˜Kontroll.โ€™ So thatโ€™s what Iโ€™m doing next.

There wasn’t alot of details been given out and directors dont like to give out too much until they have some visual evidence or unless your name is Tom Hardy who let it slip with there been possibly 2 Mad Max movies been made back to back!ย  With a dystopian story it’ll be oppression, refugees but what I like is that it’ll be on a global scale rather than one particular state.
I can give you a teaser: men and women will build a boat out of plastic bottles in Cuba to escape oppression, right? So imagine if our world has become that [kind of] oppression. You arenโ€™t building plastic bottle boats anymore, you have to build something else to get out of here.
The idea is very intriguing I think maybe in lines of work Blomkamp is coming outwith so possibly Apartheid and similar realife events could be Antal’s inspiration, so bring it on Nimrod! As for one last question and now there’s been one movie he was then asked if there would be a sequel to Predatorsย  if the new one does well –
โ€œYeah. Well, listen,โ€ Antal said. โ€œIโ€™m down. Are you?โ€
