French director François Ozon is a man famed for including biting satire and fluid notions of sexuality in his films. Judging from the new trailer, his latest film, The New Girlfriend is no different.
Based on a short story of the same name by Ruth Rendell, the film focuses on the increasingly complicated relationship between Claire (Anaïs Demoustier) and her best friend’s husband David (Romain Duris). When her best friend dies, Claire falls into a deep depression, however things start to change when she makes a startling discovery about David.
The film first premiered at last year’s Toronto Film Festival, but also made its way to this year’s Glasgow Film Festival, where our writer Andrew McArthur gave it a glowing five-star review (of which you can read here).
The New Girlfriend also stars Raphaël Personnaz and is released in UK cinemas on 22nd May.
