‘A Reckoning Is Coming’ In New Mother Mary Trailer
Anne Hathaway Is Faded Pop Star With a Secret.
A24 has just released a second trailer for filmmaker David Lowery‘s psychosexual drama/thriller Mother Mary, starring Anne Hathaway and Michaela Coel as a faded pop star and her former costume designer who reunite before an anticipated comeback performance.
Hunter Schafer, Atheena Frizzell, Kaia Gerber, Jessica Brown Findlay, Alba Baptista, Isaura Barbé-Brown, Sian Clifford, and FKA Twigs are credited as additional cast members.
The film’s marketing will also be carried by its original soundtrack, with star FKA Twigs providing an original song titled “My Mouth is Lonely for You,” performed by Hathaway. Additional credits on the Mother Mary soundtrack include Daniel Hart, known for his work with St Vincent and Other Lives, as well as his original work under the band the Physics of Meaning and Dark Rooms. Pop-star Charli XCX is also credited following her original album work for Emerald Fennell’s erotic Wuthering Heights, and producer and songwriter Jack Antonoff has also contributed to the work. Antonoff is known as the lead vocalist for Bleachers and has previously worked with Kendrick Lamar, Florence and the Machine, Lana del Rey and Lorde.
Lowery’s other film credits include The Green Knight and A Ghost Story. Hathaway is set to also appear in The Devil Wears Prada 2 alongside Meryl Streep and Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey adaptation. Coel has recently appeared in the black comedy The Christophers by Steven Soderbergh.
The film will have a New York and Los Angeles-based opening on 17th April before a cinema release.
Mother Mary hits UK cinemas on 24th April (17th April in U.S).
