New Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom Promo Is All About The Practical Effects

In this day and age, when it comes to big blockbuster films, it’s sometimes hard to believe there are still films that use practical effects. Next month Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom is one of those films that may embrace CGI but it uses old school animatronics.

Yesterday we gave you another Featurette all about the dinosaurs which told us there was going to be more dinosaurs than ever. That much you could combine the previous films, it would still outdo them! As we know JA Bayona is a director who has made a name in the horror genre so expect some really terrifying dinosaurs.

In the latest Creature Effects supervisor, Neal Scanlan breaks down how practical effects are being used to bring the film’s dinosaurs to life.

It’s been three years since theme park and luxury resort Jurassic World was destroyed by dinosaurs out of containment. Isla Nublar now sits abandoned by humans while the surviving dinosaurs fend for themselves in the jungles.

When the island’s dormant volcano begins roaring to life, Owen (Chris Pratt) and Claire (Bryce Dallas Howard) mount a campaign to rescue the remaining dinosaurs from this extinction-level event. Owen is driven to find Blue, his lead raptor who’s still missing in the wild, and Claire has grown a respect for these creatures she now makes her mission. Arriving on the unstable island as lava begins raining down, their expedition uncovers a conspiracy that could return our entire planet to a perilous order not seen since prehistoric times.
