New Image For Star Trek Into Darkness, Has It Revealed Villain’s Identity?

With Star Trek Into Darkness 9 minute Prologue only 2 Days away playing front off The Hobbit:An Unexpected Journey with full trailer coming days later today we have an new image of familiar characters.

Above shows Spock (Zachary Quinto) and Kirk (Chris Pine) interrogating Benedict Cumberbatch‘s character who  we know nothing about though has been the subject of much speculation who he maybe. Since day one there’s been 2 antagonists who keep cropping up every time we have something new from the film: Khan Noonien Singh (originally played by Ricardo Montalban) better know as Khan and Gary Mitchell who gained godlike powers in original series Where No Man Has Gone Before (played by Gary Lockwood). With the new new image Paramount have revealed a few more details from the film including Cumberbatch’s character name which is John Harrison but who he?

Looking through the resources we have for Star Trek online there is no major character called John Harrison though in the episode from the original series Space Seed there was a crewman of that name which ironically happens to be the episode Khan first appears. The theorists among us believe John Harrison is pseudo name possibly for Khan  or a brand knew character, if it is how long can Abrams keep the secret? There is a big Dark Knight Rises thing going on ala Miranda Tate (Marion Cotillard) a ‘brand new’ character?

We’re not any further with this nor do we think the prologue will reveal more clues and if he’s a new character why has his true identity not been revealed. We also have a wicked crazy theory that this film maybe combining Wraith of Khan and Search for Spock films. It was also revealed that the Klingons will make an appearance so could Cumberbatch be the character Kruge played by Christopher Lloyd? With the Hand to Hand scene of Spock/ Kirk which is the end Wraith of Khan, could he be Khan with Alice Eve‘s character been revealed as Carol Marcus, the inventor of the Genesis device, and mother to Kirk’s only son, David? Both characters where in Wraith Of Khan?

It’s going to be a frustrating wait and I’m sure until we know the truth the guessing will continue.Star Trek Into Darkness stars  Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Karl Urban, Anton Yelchin, Zoe Saldana, John Cho, Simon Pegg, Alice Eve, Peter Weller, Noel Clarke, and Benedict Cumberbatch. The film will transport into cinemas nationwide from 17th May 2013.
