My Hero Academica Wins Anime Of Year In Crunchyroll Anime Awards

Earlier today in Tokyo, Crunchyroll unveiled it’s the winners of the annual Crunchyroll Anime Awards. The 2026 edition saw My Hero Academica Final Season winning best Anime with  Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle Best Film.

Once again the star studded event took place in the Japanese capital with Sally Amaki and Jon Kabira hosting the event once again. They where joined by an array of guests from the industry and around the world including Enako, Rashmika Mandanna, Winston Duke and Nanase Nishino.

Fans of film and series scores will love the Awards show opener, with a visual journey through previous Anime of the Year winners, accompanied by a live piece by Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra. The musical treats didn’t stop there, a 30th anniversary tribute to Neon Genesis Evangelion from Yoko Takahashi. Porno Graffitti’s honouring My Hero Academia’s 10th anniversary, and Asian Kung Fu Generation’s “Haruka Kanata” from NARUTO.

Director Tatsuya Nagamine was honoured with the Global Impact Award recognising his groundbreaking work in Japanese anime including Ojamajo Doremi and PreCure to Dragon Ball Super and ONE PIECE. Masayuki Sato—an animator who worked closely with Director Nagamine on numerous projects, including Happiness Charge PreCure! and ONE PIECE, and with whom he shared a deep personal friendship—accepted the Award on Nagamine-san’s behalf.
