With Twins Peaks return only a couple of months away Studiocanal next month they will bring back David Lynch‘s neo-noir classic Mulholland Drive, to UK Cinemas.
Mulholland Drive is essential viewing by one of the masters of contemporary American cinema. David Lynch’s scary and seductive vision of Hollywood is a true masterpiece, weaving together a tale of love, jealousy, and revenge like no other. The movie needs no introduction and has a 4K Restoration (approved by Lynch himself) with a premiere at Flatpack Film Festival Birmingham 4th April. Then on 14th April in ICO, London.
Check out the restored trailer sent to us from those good folks at Studiocanal.
There are very few critics, cinephiles not forgetting some filmmakers who haven’t inspired by David Lynch movies and Mulholland Drive especially. This movie is a great education for any wannabe film students and a rare chance to see it on the big screen is a one in a lifetime opportunity.
Beautiful, bizarre and strangely addictive, the film begins as a botched hit result in the meeting of brunette amnesiac Rita (Laura Harring – Love in the Time of Cholera) and blonde would-be Hollywood actress Betty (Naomi Watts – Birdman, 21 Grams). Taking the viewer on a memorable neo-noir trip through Hollywood’s dark underbelly, Lynch dispenses with a conventional narrative in favour of a hallucinogenic assault on the senses that will stay with you long after the credits roll.
We’re sure there will be more dates than the ones mentioned, check out your local cinema listings (including local arthouse cinemas too). If you’re unable to see Mulholland Drive on the big, on 22nd May Studiocanal are set to release a special edition Blu-ray & DVD (extras still to be confirmed) to coincide with Twin Peaks season 3.
