MUBI Set To Release Davy Chou’s Return To Seoul in UK

The boutique distributor and streaming service, MUBI, have announced that they are set to release Return To Seoul in the UK and Ireland. The film will have a UK and Irish cinema release before becoming exclusive to their own streaming service.

Davy Chou, known for directing ‘Diamond Island‘, directed this film, which had its world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival last year as part of the Un Certain Regard section. The movie stars Oj Kwang-Rok (‘Oldboy‘) and Kim Sun-Young (‘Three Sisters‘), and introduces newcomer Park Ji-Min in the leading role.

Return To Seoul follows Freddie, who wants to reconnect with her origins in South Korea. Though she was born in the country, she was brought up in France by her adoptive parents and knows nothing about her biological parents. This journey takes her in an unexpected direction.

On an impulse to reconnect with her origins, Freddie, 25, returns to South Korea for the first time, where she was born before being adopted and raised in France. The headstrong young woman starts looking for her biological parents in a country she knows so little about, taking her life in new and unexpected directions.

Return To Seoul will be released in UK and Irish cinemas from 5th May. Then on 7th July it will go to MUBI.
