How To Have Sex, Molly Manning Walker's film coming to MUBI

Earlier today the BFI revealed their line up for 67th BFI London Film Festival. One of the distributor delighted with the line up has to be boutique distributor and streaming service MUBI.

They will have a diverse selection of feature films and documentaries from around the world, coming to London.

The festival will see seven UK premieres including Sofia Coppola’s Priscilla (Special Presentation), Molly Manning Walker’s How To Have Sex (Journey), Aki Kaurismäki’s Fallen Leaves (Special Presentation), Kevin Macdonald’High & Low – John Galliano (Debate), Felipe Gálvez’s The Settlers (Journey), Wim Wenders’ Perfect Days (Late Addition), and Rodrigo Moreno’s The Delinquents (Journey).

FALLEN LEAVES Special Presentation Strand
Premiere Date: Saturday 7th October – 9.15PM/Royal Festival Hall

Set in modern day Helsinki, Fallen Leaves tells the story of Ansa (Alma Pöysti) and Holappa (Jussi Vatanen), two lonely souls whose chance meeting at a local karaoke bar is beset by numerous hurdles. From lost phone numbers to mistaken addresses, alcoholism and a charming stray dog, the pair’s path to happiness is as bittersweet as it is ultimately delightful.

HIGH & LOW – JOHN GALLIANO Debate Strand
Premiere Screening: Thursday 12th October – 6.10PM/Curzon Mayfair
Kevin Macdonald’s film investigates the career of fashion designer John Galliano, and the context, including decades of industry pressure and drug and alcohol addiction, that surrounded his downfall in 2011.

HOW TO HAVE SEX Journey Strand

Three British teenage girls go on a rites-of-passage holiday, drinking, clubbing and hooking up in what should be the best summer of their lives. As they dance their way across the sun-drenched streets of Malia, they find themselves navigating the complexities of sex, consent and self-discovery. Captured with luminous visuals and a pitch-perfect soundtrack, Manning Walker’s directorial debut paints a painfully familiar portrait of young adulthood, and how first sexual experiences should – or shouldn’t – play out.

PERFECT DAYS Late Addition Strand

Set in a public restroom that is part of the real-life urban renewal project known as the “The Tokyo Toilet project, which involves the creation of 17 public bathrooms in key locations in the Japanese capital.

PRISCILLA Special Presentation
Premiere Date: Monday 9th October, 9.10PM/Royal Festival Hall

When teenage Priscilla Beaulieu meets Elvis Presley at a party, the man who is already a meteoric rock-and-roll superstar becomes someone entirely unexpected in private moments: a thrilling crush, an ally in loneliness, a vulnerable best friend. Bank employee Morán schemes to steal enough money to liberate himself from corporate monotony, then confess and serve prison time while his co-worker hides the cash. Soon under pressure by a company investigator, accomplice Román later encounters a mysterious woman who will transform him forever.

THE SETTLERS Journey Strand
Premiere Date: Monday 9th October – 6.15PM/Curzon Mayfair

Chile, 1901. A wealthy landowner hires three horsemen to mark out the perimeter of his property and open a route to the Atlantic Ocean across Patagonia. The expedition, composed of a young Chilean mestizo, an American mercenary and a reckless British lieutenant, soon turns into a “civilizing” raid.
