Mike Leigh’s Peterloo New Trailer Demands End To The Suffering

Next month the revolution will be starting when Mike Leigh‘s Peterloo is released in the UK and Ireland. Ahead of the film’s release (and the UK premiere at the London Festival next week), Entertainment One has released a new UK Trailer.

The Film is based on the shocking true story of the 1819 Peterloo massacre. A story that must be told, especially as the government in power is once again in power. Working Class people fighting for their right, a massacre that redefined British democracy. Ironic that the same party is unwilling to listen to the same people for everything from Brexit, food banks, poverty, homeless, NHS, education. The list is endless, this was a real event, not ‘fake news’…

An epic portrayal of the events surrounding the infamous 1819 Peterloo Massacre, where a peaceful pro-democracy rally at St Peter’s Field in Manchester turned into one of the bloodiest and most notorious episodes in British history. The massacre saw British government forces charge into a crowd of over 60,000 that had gathered to demand political reform and protest against rising levels of poverty. Many protestors were killed and hundreds more injured, sparking a nationwide outcry but also further government suppression. The Peterloo Massacre was a defining moment in British democracy which also played a significant role in the founding of The Guardian newspaper.

The film stars Rory Kinnear, Maxine Peake, Tim McInnerny, Christopher Eccleston, Leo Bill, David Bamber.

Peterloo is set for release in the UK and Ireland 2nd November 2018. Just before that, the film will receive its UK Premiere at the 62nd BFI London Film Festival on Wednesday 17th October. The film will be broadcast live to cinemas nationwide and will be followed by a Q&A with director Mike Leigh. This premiere will actually take place in Manchester at Home, marking the festivals Premieres film outside of the capital.
