Michael Winterbottom’s Shoshana Gets A UK Trailer
Love comes in many shapes and forms, when it hits it’s not always in the most romantic places either. In Michael Winterbottom‘s political thriller Shoshana love arrives in Colonial Israel. Altitude Films have released the UK Trailer for the film, star crossed lovers in the the mist of politics and radicalization.
The film made it’s world premiere last year at Toronto Film Festival. Set in 1930’s British Mandatory Palestine, tensions are also rising in Tel Aviv. The military are struggling to keep peace between the Jewish and Palestinian populations. Officer Thomas Wilkin (Douglas Booth) falls in love with Zionist movement co-founder Dov Ber Borochov, Shoshana (Irina Starshenbaum). As a paramilitary group lead a campaign of violence against the British, Thomas is instructed to take a zero tolerance approach. This forces Thomas to choose violence pushing Shoshana to pick her lover or independence.
This is inspired by true events and sadly 80 plus years on the troubles still resonate.
Inspired by real events, SHOSHANA is a political thriller set in 1930s Tel Aviv. Thomas Wilkin, who works in the anti-terrorist squad of the British Palestine Police force, is in love with Shoshana Borochov. Through their relationship the film explores the way extremism and violence drives a wedge between people, forcing them to choose sides.
The film stars next to Starshenbaum, and Booth, are Harry Melling, Oliver Charles, and Aury Alby. Shoshana will be released by Altitude Films in UK and Irish cinemas from 23rd February.
