Michael Douglas To Lead The Cast of The Hangover For Old Guys, LAST VEGAS?
The Expendables has certainly sparked off an resurgence of mature actors reliving the youth in films we wouldn’t really expect them to do now, showing the young ones how to do it proper style. If you love the Hangover films, that inspiration wont be limited to Bridesmaids or one final Hangover film, step forward the ‘auldpack’ or outside Scotland ‘the old pack’ as Michael Douglas is going to lead a bunch of randy old men in LAST VEGAS.
Variety are reporting the veteran actor is to lead which Douglas will play an mature ladies man who gets his three childhood friends together for a wild bachelor party in Vegas before he settles down with a girl half his age. Jon Turtletaub (National Treasure) will direct a script from Dan Fogelman (Crazy, Stupid, Love.) and it does sound a fun movie but you always have in the back of your mind ‘Wild Hogs’ and if that’s the direction their hoping to take, Last Vegas will potentially become a film to avoid, so the prospect of 4 older guys doing a hangover thing with similar style humour does sound more appealing. But how ironic Douglas is to play the man who marries a woman half his age when he’s married to a younger woman in Catherine Zeta Jones who is 25 plus years younger and a man who likes to be ‘naughty’ with the ladies too, too realistic.
Is this the type of film Michael Douglas should be doing? or should he be looking for better? I’m on the fence here but he’s such a accomplished actor from a hollywood family dynasty so why not? Next in line for Douglas is Steven Soderbergh‘s Liberace biopic Behind The Candelabra, which is to be a HBO film to start in the Summer with Last Vegas expected to start shooting later in the year around September.
