Michael Bay Confirms Mark Wahlberg For Transformers 4 , New Logo Revealed

Will he or wont he? The answer is he will! Michael Bay has confirmed Mark Wahlberg will star in Transformers 4. After several weeks of constant rumours the Baymeister has lay rest to those rumour confirming the actor will star in the sort-off reboot of his giant robot film franchise via his blog. It all started when the director who has just finished filming (now in post production) Pain and Gain with Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson that the star was in talks to star in the film which quickly changed to another project. Then the merry go round brought the academy nominee back into the fold then tonight everything became official.

There’s no word if Mark Wahlberg will actually be the lead actor however with all the hype behind the casting we assume he will be leading the line as Bay is promoting him as’ the man to re-invigorate the franchise’ . Still no word yet on exactly what direction nor how close to the previous 3 films Transformers 4 will follow. Word is it Dwayne Johnson is also in talks to star in another film with Michael Bay however no word on exactly what project that maybe or of he is actually going to work with quite soon.

Filming is due to start Spring 2013 with a June 27th 2014 release date, read the official press release below as well as check out the film’s new official logo too.

HOLLYWOOD, CA (November 8, 2012) โ€“ After an exceptionally successful collaboration on the upcoming โ€œPain and Gain,โ€ Michael Bay has cast Academy Awardยฎ-nominee Mark Wahlberg in the highly anticipated โ€œTRANSFORMERS 4.โ€ The film will hit theaters June 27th, 2014.

โ€œMark is awesome. We had a blast working on โ€œPain and Gainโ€ and Iโ€™m so fired up to be back working with him. An actor of his caliber is the perfect guy to re-invigorate the franchise and carry on the Transformersโ€™ legacy,โ€ said Bay.

Bay will direct the next installment in the โ€œTRANSFORMERSโ€ series, which begins shooting next spring. From Paramount Pictures, a division of Viacom, Inc., in association with Hasbro, the film will be produced by Don Murphy & Tom DeSanto, Lorenzo di Bonaventura and Ian Bryce, and executive produced by Steven Spielberg, Bay, Brian Goldner and Mark Vahradian.

Bayโ€™s first โ€œTRANSFORMERSโ€ film was a box office sensation in 2007, opening at #1 and earning more than $700 million worldwide. His second installment โ€œTRANSFORMERS: REVENGE OF THE FALLENโ€ in 2009 grossed more than $830 million worldwide. In 2011, โ€œTRANSFORMERS: DARK OF THE MOONโ€ was an even bigger hit worldwide, grossing more than a billion dollars to become the 5th highest grossing film of all time. To date, the franchise has earned more than $2.6 billion worldwide.
