Usually Meryl Streep does awards follow too like a giant magnetic, leaving you think if there is anything she’s not good at? In Florence Foster Jenkins UK trailer she’s finally bad at something, wailing like a banshee, she’s no Mama Mia

One of film’s most loved female actors for her latest role must act badly to portray a heiress who dreams to be a Opera singer despite having a terrible singing voice.

The comedy drama directed by Stephen Frears (Philomena, The Queen),Florence Foster Jenkins tells the inspirational true story of the eponymous New York heiress who obsessively pursued her dream of becoming a great singer. The film celebrates the human spirit, the power of music and the passion of amateurs everywhere.

The voice Florence (Streep) heard in her head was divine, but to the rest of the world it was hilariously awful. At private recitals, her devoted husband and manager, St Clair Bayfield (Hugh Grant), managed to protect Florence from the truth. But when Florence decided to give her first public concert at New York’s Carnegie Hall, St Clair realised he had perhaps bitten off more than he could chew.

Running just short of 1 minute long, the trailer we don’t actually hear how awful the singing is but as we know how wonderful Streep is, she’ll make it extra special most of all entertaining. Keeping suspense sounds the best move especially when many trailers these days like to reveal just a little too much, spoiling it when we do see it. Sometimes honesty is the best way and tell a person the truth like Florence’s husband tell she’s awful.However when you see that person having their 15 minutes of fame enjoying every minute it’s best to step back and when things do go wrong you are devoted to them!

Florence Foster Jenkins is set for a 6th May UK cinema release. The film co-stars Simon Helberg (The Big Bang Theory) as Florence’s long suffering piano accompanist, Rebecca Ferguson (Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation) and Nina Arianda (Midnight in Paris).
