Meow Watch UK Trailer For The Electric Life Of Louis Wain

After a couple years in the unknown and more recently premiered at Toronto, The Electric Life Of Louis Wain has taken a massive step closer to release. Studiocanal release finally the first official UK Trailer starring Benedict Cumberbatch as the forgotten British artist Louis Wain in the extraordinary true story of a brilliant but troubled soul, whose fascination with the mysteries of the world is both complicated and deepened when he meets the love of his life Emily (Claire Foy).

Louis Wain reminds us not every man’s best friend is a dog, Louis loved his cats which you saw through his work. Wain was a talented British artist who in his day  wasn’t as known until more recently. A troubled soul plagued by mental health who could transform anthropomorphized cats into wonderful or even unique pieces of art.

We watched this film at Toronto and loved it (review below). Our writer Scott J.Davis described it “if you’re a cat lover, be warned: Peter, the black and white stray who starts his career, will turn your heart into adoring mush“.

The extraordinary true story of eccentric British artist Louis Wain (Benedict Cumberbatch), whose playful, sometimes even psychedelic pictures helped to transform the public’s perception of cats forever. Moving from the late 1800s through to the 1930s, we follow the incredible adventures of this inspiring, unsung hero, as he seeks to unlock the “electrical” mysteries of the world and, in so doing, to better understand his own life and the profound love he shared with his wife Emily Richardson (Claire Foy).

The cast also includes Sophia Di Martino, Olivia Colman narrating, Andrea Riseborough, Jamie Demetriou, Richard Ayaode, Asim Chaudry, Toby Jones, Nick Cave, Takia Waititi and Stacy Martin.

The Electric Life Of Louis Wain will be released in the UK and Irish Cinemas in 2022. If you live in U.S Amazon Studios will give the film a limited theatrical release on 22nd October, before heading to Amazon Prime Video on 5th November.
