MCG Looking To Direct R.I.P.D
McG must be real glad of 2010, not the fact he hasn’t made a movie but M.Night Shyalamalan has taken his seat on the pedastol of directors to loathe. No matter what your views of Terminator Salvation (good or bad) the movie was ripped apart I personally didn’t like it but that’s my opinion, so what has been MCG been upto since?
Not really much been connected with a number of on off projects and he’s apparently signed to direct 20th century Fox’s This Means War an action comedy starring Tom Hardy, Reese Witherspoon and Chris Pine about two lifelong friends who wage an epic battle on each other because they’ve both fallen in love with the same girl (Witherspoon). But Fox aren’t content of having McG working on one project according to Pajiba soon as he’s finished the This Mean’s War project he’ll start to work on the movie R.I.P.D.
This project has been on cards as far back as 2006 when David Dobkin (wedding Crashers) was in line to helm the supernatural thriller but if gossip is true MCG is the man for the job. The man at the moment as in comicbook movies Ryan Reynolds (Green Lantern, Deadpool, also appeared in Blade) is attached to play the lead role in this Darkhorse comics Graphic Novel adaptation. The story centres around a young cop Nick Cruz who was murdered whilst on duty and he trades his ‘life’for a hundred years of service to REST IN PREACE DEPARTMENT (R.I.P.D), a police for of dead police who have created a police department to lay the law down on unwilling souls.
If this project is to happen with Ryan Reynolds involved it could be a few years down the line before this movie starts, due to his work schedule.
