3 weeks in counting This September he will be ‘home’ when Ridley Scott‘s The Martian World Premier in Toronto, but today Matt Damon goes Red, to the Red Planet in the new UK trailer. Since his return to the genre he helped mold Scott’s record hasn’t been a smooth one however things might just change with this one and in the latest trailer we get a little more background on why we must ‘Bring Him Home’…

Matt Damon stars as Astronaut Mark Watney who is left stranded by his crew thought to be dead after a fierce storm. Alone on a hostile planet he create a makeshift shelter from his damaged vessel and attempt to contact Earth for help, but Earth is million miles away. Will his crew get there in time from mission impossible or will Mark have ingenuity, the wit and spirit to get himeself home?

The first trailer landed back in June was solid in nature, it teased us with the epic value of it.Now we have a new second trailer which gives you a better idea of the tone of the film and what’s at stake for our stranded hero. The Martian does have a sense of realism to it as Scott pointed out recently when they screened about 49minutes of the film to a select group of NASA folks. โ€œSci-fi is mostly fantasy, and what was attractive about this is the reality of the situation. I always liked The Right Stuff, which got into the early days of the astronauts, and this, while not the same at all, offered the reality of the situation, the challenges an astronaut may have in 15-20 years,โ€

The Martian also stars Jessica Chastain, Kristen Wiig, Jeff Daniels, Michael Peรฑa, Kate Mara, Sean Bean, Sebastian Stan, Aksel Hennie and Chiwetel Ejiofor with a new UK release date of 30th September (USA 2nd October).
