On 29th September heroes will be on our screens as Peter Berg brings his dramatic disaster flick Deepwater Horizon arrives in cinemas in UK, Ireland and USA. Just before then the film is getting a premiere at next week’s Toronto Film Festival and get us in the mood Lionsgate have sent us an explosive first clip from the film. The short clip is called ‘I’ll Call You Back‘ which sees Mark Whalberg skyping his onscreen wife Kate Hudson and disaster strikes!
Well if your like me Skype seems to cut out all the time when I call anyone, as you’ll see this might not be a situation he can call back! The clip looks to show the trigger that sparked what has been called the world’s worst man made disaster. He does get blown (hey! keep it clean no jokes!) and he can sort the problem out. However if you know anything about this many lives are lost and hopefully this film will give those fallen voices a platform to highlight the bravery.
On April 20th, 2010, the world’s largest man-made disaster occurred on the Deepwater Horizon in the Gulf of Mexico. Directed by Peter Berg, this story honours the brave men and women whose heroism would save many on board, and change everyone’s lives forever.
We have to hold our hands up, we have been critics of Peter Berg‘s films in the past especially Battleship. We’re not saying he’s went from mediocrity to film auteur overnight, far from it. What we see in his latest creation is maturity, and when your been quoted for possible Oscar contention as well as getting premiere’s at film festivals like Toronto you must be doing something right!
Deepwater Horizon arrives in UK in 29 th September 2016 (same date for USA too). The film stars Mark Wahlberg, Kurt Russell, John Malkovich, Gina Rodriguez, Dylan O’Brien and Kate Hudson.
