‘Love Cinema’ Watch New UK Trailer For Empire Of Light
Let’s get one thing in straight, we all love cinema. Sam Mendes‘ Empire Of Light promises to celebrate that love, today Searchlight Pictures have released a new UK Trailer, asks us to watch and ‘Love Cinema’.
The film has been doing to the rounds of this year’s film festivals including Toronto and BFI London Film Festival. The film marks Mendes first film since his Oscar winning 1917. Starring Olivia Colman and Michael Ward we find ourselves in 1980’s England. Set around an old cinema in a Coastal town, it’s turbulent times the cinema manager is struggling (Colman) and her new employee can’t wait to escape his hometown .
The film is described a compelling and poignant drama about the power of human connection during turbulent times. With those ‘turbulent’ times affecting us all this film might just hit a nerve for many of us.
From Academy Award®-winning director and writer Sam Mendes, EMPIRE OF LIGHT is a moving drama about the power of human connection during turbulent times. Set in and around a faded old cinema in an English coastal town in the early 1980s, it follows Hilary (Olivia Colman) a cinema manager struggling with her mental health, and Stephen (Micheal Ward), a new employee who longs to escape this provincial town in which he faces daily adversity. Both Hilary and Stephen find a sense of belonging through their unlikely and tender relationship and come to experience the healing power of music, cinema, and community.
The rest of the cast includes Colin Firth, Toby Jones, Tom Brooke, Tanya Moodie, Hannah Onslow, and Crystal Clarke. Empire Of Light will be released by Searchlight Pictures on 9th January 2023 in the UK and Ireland.
