When it’s came to the upcoming Ghostbusters film directed by Paul Feig we’ve tried to be diplomatic sitting on the fence with all the criticism the film has had to put up with. However today we get a chance to hear the much publicised reboot of the iconic theme tune, our verdict it’s AWFUL!
We all know when they do create remakes for fun these days and when they do sometime we need to ‘modernise’ bring it up to date especially if its a film made a long long time ago. For the integrity of films sometime the change have to be minimal then again sometimes having a little nostalgia doesn’t do anyone harm. Naturally new film, new music will follow.
‘Inspired’ is a very big word with this film and the low ebb of the film already, it’s no surprise we have a cringeworthy song. “Ghostbusters (I’m Not Afraid),” (by Fall Out Boy with Missy Elliott) as it’s called is full of nostalgia but it’s a song that’s also been lined up perfectly to fuel those haters of the film. People may say I have no love for rock&roll which far from the truth. From my early days I was brought up in a house where every one from Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, David Bowie true rock legends, not a manufactured pop band that are like a reject band from X-Factor. I lived on other rock music even metal and Punk so someone can’t accuse myself not been diverse.
I wonder how the film’s approached would have been if this main cast wasn’t all women? With the criticism coming mostly from males who remember the original film and is part of their childhood. I am one of those males the original Ghostbusters part of my childhood however I’m more opening and keeping my criticism until I see the film on 11th July.
This is a cheese fest that’s more interested in £££ than delivering extra layer of support to a troubled film.Personally I would have the Bobby Brown song from Ghostbusters 2 but then again after recent revelations I don’t think any female ghost would want to get close to Brown again!
