Lena Dunham, Stephen Fry Star In Treasure Watch UK Trailer
Family trips wouldn’t be family trips without a few breakdowns and in Treasure there is a few. Elysian Film Group have released the UK trailer as Lena Dunham and Stephen Fry embark on a road trip.
Next month the indie dramedy will arrive in UK cinema with Dunham and Fry as a daughter father duo. This is an impactful moving film from writer/director Julia Von Heinz, based on the book Too Many Men by Lily Brett. Apparently this is the third in von Heinzโs โAftermath Trilogyโ exploring the legacy of Germanyโs Nazi past following 2013โs Hannaโs Journey and And Tomorrow the Entire World. It also marks Dunham‘s returning to acting after several years of writing, directing post Girls.
Treasure is set in 1990’s,about an American music journalist who heads to Poland with her father. In the hope to learn about her fathers childhood who refuses to relive that trauma.
A father-daughter road trip set in 1990s Poland, TREASURE follows Ruth (Dunham), an American music journalist, and her father, Edek (Fry), a charmingly stubborn Holocaust survivor, on a journey to his homeland. While Ruth is eager to make sense of her familyโs past, Edek embarks on the trip with his own agenda. This emotional, funny culture clash of two New Yorkers exploring post-socialist Poland is a powerful example of how reconnecting with family and the past can be an unexpected treasure.
The film’s other cast includes Zbigniew Zamachowski, Tomasz Wlosok, Wenanty Nosul, Iwona Bielska, and Maria Mamona. Treasure will be released in the UK and Ireland from 14th June.
