Netflix have announce award winning actor Laurence Fishburne (The Matrix, John Wick) has joined the cast of The Witcher.

Fishburne joins as Regis, a fan favourite from  the Witcher books and games. The character of Regis, introduced in Andrzej Sapkowski’s novel Baptism of Fire, is a world-wise Barber-surgeon with a mysterious past who joins Geralt on his journey in Season 4.

Fishburne says: ““I’m very excited to be joining the cast and look forward to exploring the wondrous world of The Witcher.”

Fishburne joins Liam Hemsworth as Geralt taking over from Henry Cavill. Joining them once again will be Anya Chalotra, Freya Allan and Joey Batey in the highly anticipated 4th Season of the globally renowned, award winning show which will return to production this Spring.

After the shocking, Continent-altering events that close out season three, the new season follows Geralt, Yennefer, and Ciri who are faced with traversing the war-ravaged Continent and its many demons apart from each other. If they can embrace and lead the groups of misfits they find themselves in, they have a chance of surviving the baptism of fire — and finding one another again.

It seems a role suited for the actor whom in the likes of The Matrix and even the John Wick films, a father figure type to the lead character.  The above official description doesn’t give too much away, making you wonder if the character story could be changed. Sometimes this does happen when the source is from books, if true doesn’t mean they’ll be drastic changes.

This time they’ll be no blue pill or red pill, this time Regis or Emiel Regis Rohellec Terzieff-Godefroy,  just wants red blood!
