Will The Hawk Finally Complete Golf's Grand Slam?

Will Ferrell in The Hawk trailer

Netflix have just released the official trailer for the upcoming comedy series The Hawk starring comedy legend Will Ferrell.

The show tells the story of Lonnie Hawkins (Ferrell), 2004’s number one golfer, who struggles on the back nine of his career to recapture his magic. His body says retire, but his heart says he’s not done yet. His ex-wife and his son, Lance, golf’s new golden boy, know he’s finished, but with one more major to win to complete golf’s Grand Slam, Lonnie refuses to believe he’s anything other than one stroke away from the greatest comeback in golf history.

It’s interesting to see another streaming platform committing to a golf-focused show, especially so soon after Owen Wilson’s Stick for Apple TV. Time will soon tell which one will come out on top. Netflix have been pushing The Hawk quite hard with Ferrell appearing in character at numerous events such as the World Golf Hall of Fame in Pinehurst, NC.

The show will be 10 episodes, and joining Ferrell are Molly Shannon, Jimmy Tatro, Fortune Feimster, Luke Wilson, Chris Parnell, Katelyn Tarver, and David Hornsby. It’s produced by the PGA Tour, with exec producers including the likes of Rian Johnson, Ferrell, Harper Steele and more.
