Krysten Ritter Returning As Jessica Jones For Daredevil: Born Again’s Second Season
What a day to be a Daredevil fan, huh? Mere hours after Charlie Cox teased that the second season of the hit Disney+ show would have some cameos, news broke that one of those appearances would indeed be the return of Krysten Ritter as Jessica Jones.
The announcement came during Disneyโs upfront presentation to advertisers in New York on Tuesday night, for which Ritter joined Cox on stage to confirm her return as the hard-drinking detective hero once more. Jones is a former superhero with superhuman strength and limited flight abilities, suffering from PTSD and trauma, who runs her own detective agency.
โItโs so great to be back, returning to Jessica after three seasons and โThe Defendersโ and now joining the MCU,โ Ritter said. โIโm so excited to bring back this iconic character, and without giving too much away, there is much more in store for Jessica Jones. This is going to be an incredible season!โ
Jessica Jones ran from 2015-2019 on Netflix for three seasons before she, Iron Fist, Luke Cage and Daredevil teamed for Defenders in 2017. She joins Cox and Punisher star Jon Bernthal to come back to the roles for the new MCU-included versions of the characters. In addition,ย Vincent DโOnofrio as the Kingpin, Deborah Ann Woll, Elden Henson, Wilson Bethel, Ayelet Zurer and more have since returned.
Cox also mentioned on the red carpet for the event that he will not be appearing in the currently-filming Avengers: Doomsday – though an Avengers: Secret Wars appearance might make more sense for him joining them. Daredevil: Born Again – Season 2 is already in pre-production and could return next year.
