JC Chandor is fast becoming one of film’s most exciting filmmakers in the industry and with 2 of the hardest working actorsin the cast you have the prospects fantastic film on your hands, this afternoon we have the first UK trailer for A Most Violent Year.

Starring two of the best hard working actors in the industry Oscar Isaac and Jessica Chastain star in a period crime drama set in New York 1981. A Most Violent Year tells the story of an immigrant (Isaac) and his wife (Chastain) attempting to expand their business in the amongst the corruption, violence that swept through the city that year. Whilst he may believe his actions are legit and above water they lead him down a very dark path affecting all he loves.

One thing we see when films set 1980’s or even 1970’s is a fun element which thrives through the cast even if the film has an dark tone like this one. The film has been gaining some fantastic reviews from the festival circuit, the lead actor seem to have created an real organic chemistry with the Isaac delivering the performance that may just deliver that little namesake statue he solely deserves.

Whilst the genres he’s worked in may not be be original Chandor has an knack of creating something refreshing, exciting changing the dramatic tones with such ease. Many didn’t enjoy his previous film All Is Lost but we adore it and if anything the film was a lesson on how to deliver tension, holding a film on your own by a screen legend Robert Redford with very few words spoken.
