While rumours about his potential casting have gained traction, OโConnor clarified his stance in a recent interview withย Deadline whilst promoting his new film Rebuilding at Sundance.
When asked about the possibility of playing the legendary spy, OโConnor revealed that heโs just as in the dark as anyone else. โI have no thoughts, really,โ he said. โThe truth is that โฆ I think in the space of a week, I made a joke about, wouldnโt it be funny if I played Bond? Then, me and Daniel [Craig] did anย Actors on Actors, and then something else happened, and then suddenly I was James Bond. If I am Bond, I donโt know about it.โ
The actorโs light-hearted remarks stemmed from his joke about playing Bond, which quickly sparked speculation among fans and media outlets. However, as of now, thereโs no confirmation on who will succeed Daniel Craig, who last portrayed the character in 2021โs No Time to Die, as well as Spectre, Skyfall, Quantum of Solace, and Casino Royale.
