Joseph Gordon-Levitt Is A ‘Whistleblower’ In Snowden Trailer

The Only safe place is on the run and one thing Edward Snowden has done is run. It was only the matter of time Snowden would become the subject of a film and what better way to deliver a controversial story is to get an controversial filmmaker Olivier Stone. Today it’s time to take those first steps as we get our first official look at Snowden trailer…
After several delays to the film been released, it is finally making it’s cinematic debut late this summer (USA at least), but has the delays scuppered any true interest, missing the momentum? When you ‘sacrifice’ for the sake of your country?
Academy Award®-winning director Oliver Stone, who brought Platoon, Born on the Fourth of July, Wall Street and JFK to the big screen, tackles the most important and fascinating true story of the 21st century.
Snowden, the politically-charged, pulse-pounding thriller starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Shailene Woodley, reveals the incredible untold personal story of Edward Snowden, the polarizing figure who exposed shocking illegal surveillance activities by the NSA and became one of the most wanted men in the world. He is considered a hero by some, and a traitor by others. No matter which you believe, the epic story of why he did it, who he left behind, and how he pulled it off makes for one of the most compelling films of the year.
Whatever your views on what Edward Snowden done merited him to get a movie or a story that had to be told, overall it was an unique story tailormade for Stone’s vision. The trailer certainly covers moments of his time as a soldier and his determination to stay in those finally becoming a CIA operative then a contractor that becomes disillusioned. His actions are still very sensative with Americans which triggered Stone to shoot the film outside USA not just from the people but possibly NSA too. Gordon-Levitt even had a opportunity to meet the man too. Patriotic hero or national traitor?
Some are saying award potential could be on the cards and that could be lying in the presence of Nicholas Cage and Zachary Quinto, but could this film bomb like previous features? If Stone has reached the levels of Born On The 4th Of July or JFK Olivier Stone can then wipe away the recent slump polarize himself back into Hollywood illuminati.
Snowden doesn’t have a UK distributor or release date, however if your in USA mark 16th September in your diaries. The film also stars Shailene Woodley, Melissa Leo,Tom Wilkinson, Rhys Ifans.
