Jon Bernthal Joins Cast Of Spider-Man: Brand New Day
Jon Bernthal has joined the cast of Spider-Man: Brand New Day, according to The Hollywood Reporter, which will see him reprise his role as Frank Castle, aka The Punisher.
The latest film featuring the web-slinging superhero from Sony and Marvel,ย Brand New Day,ย is set to release on July 31, 2026.
It will be directed by Destin Daniel Cretton and will shoot in England during the summer.
Bernthal, who portrays the role of the Punisher or Frank Castle in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, will join Tom Holland in their second project together, releasing next year. The other isย The Odyssey,ย directed by Christopher Nolan and starring Matt Damon, which will also hit cinemas in July 2026.
Currently, Zendaya and Jacob Batalon have been confirmed to be reprising their roles as MJ and Ned, while Stranger Things star Sadie Sink will also be joining the cast. It has not been revealed who she will play.
This film will take place directly after the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home. The ending saw the entire world’s knowledge of Peter Parker erased after Spider-Man’s identity was revealed.
Jon Bernthal has an eclectic history in the MCU, which goes back to his first appearance as Castle in Netflix’s Daredevilย series in 2016 before starring in his own spin-off series ofย The Punisher in 2017, which ran for two seasons. He returned to the role this year in Disney+’s Daredevil: Born Again series and is set to appear in the next season.
Disney has also previously announced a Punisher standalone feature for its platform, for which Bernthal is co-writing. Bernthal was previously seen earlier this year in The Accountant 2, alongside Ben Affleck in the sequel.
