The man who gave Thor a funny bone Taika Waititi returns with World War II Satire with JoJo Rabbit. Fox Searchlight has released the UK version of the International Trailer with an all dancing Hitler!

Waititi brings his own distinctive brand of satire in a darkly comedic story. A story of a lonely 10 year old German boy called JoJo(Roman Griffin Davis) during World War II. He has an imaginary friend, he’s called Adolf Hitler!

Only Waititi could pull something as absurd as this. You could say there is a big Mel Brooks inspiration too. I wouldn’t be surprised if there is some big wigs at Disney a little nervous about this one, due to Disney’s ‘family image’.

There is a streak of relevance of authoritarianism , with certain leaders, countries worldwide popping up. This looks incredibly funny, edgy and sometimes you need to push a few buttons to deliver.

Writer director Taika Waititi (THOR: RAGNAROK, HUNT FOR THE WILDERPEOPLE), brings his signature style of humor and pathos to his latest film, JOJO RABBIT, a World War II satire that follows a lonely German boy (Roman Griffin Davis as JoJo) whose world view is turned upside down when he discovers his single mother (Scarlett Johansson) is hiding a young Jewish girl (Thomasin McKenzie) in their attic. Aided only by his idiotic imaginary friend, Adolf Hitler (Taika Waititi), Jojo must confront his blind nationalism

JoJo also stars Alfie Allen, Rebel Wilson, Sam Rockwell, Scarlett Johansson,Stephen Merchant, Thomasin McKenzie and Taika Waititi as Adolf.

JoJo Rabbit arrives in UK and Irish cinemas on Wednesday January 1st 2020. If you can’t wait that long, next month, Taika Waititi’s exuberant and irreverent comedy, will premiere at BFI London Film Festival.
