Johnny Depp to Star in Ti West’s Ebenezer: A Christmas Carol

Johnny Depp will star in Ti West’s Ebenezer: A Christmas Carol. Following Paramount’s merger with Skydance, the film has been slated for a November 13, 2026, release.

Charles Dickens’ definitive yuletide story has been retold often, with director Robert Eggers announcing his adaptation earlier this year. The auteur behind 2024’s Nosferatu has cast Willem Dafoe as the miserly Scrooge.

West’s version is set in Dickens’ London, and will follow Scrooge as he faces his past, present and future for a shot at redemption. Depp himself is making a slow return to Hollywood following a highly publicised lawsuit victory in 2022. The actor recently completed filming Lionsgate’s Day Drinker, also starring Penélope Cruz.

A Christmas Carol naturally plays to Depp’s thespian strengths, best displayed in his wacky, bold roles like Jack Sparrow or Willy Wonka. Andrea Riseborough (Matilda) will co-star.

Ti West, known for his work with A24, found huge success with 2022’s X, followed closely by Pearl and MaXXXine. The director’s work formed a loose trilogy led by a top-notch Mia Goth. Like Depp, West’s take on the Christmastime ghost story could come naturally.

Ebenezer: A Christmas Carol is scheduled for release on November 13, 2026.
