Johnny Depp in new Mortdecai TV spot

Ahead of its release next week,ย Lionsgate have sent us aย new TV spot for Johnny Depp’s latest film,ย Mortdecai. The film is based on the 1973 novel, “Donโt Point That Thing At Me” by Kyril Bonfiglioli, which is from a series of books about the titular Mortdecai,ย known for their dry and black humour.
Depp plays Charles Mortdecai, a debonair art dealer, and is recruited by the British government to recover a priceless piece of art that has gone missing. Mortdecai must dash across the globe sporting a glorious moustache, and fight offย angry Russians and international terrorists to try to reclaim the painting.
Judging from this TV spot and the below trailer,ย Mortdecai looks like exceedingly good fun, with Depp relishing every moment as the aristocratic art dealer. With supporting turns from a starry cast, includingย Gwynethย Paltrow, Ewan Mcgregor, Paul Bettany, and Jeff Goldblum, Mortdecaiย could be very promising. Here’s hoping it’s as entertainingย as these clips suggests, and keeps the wit and warmth of the books.
Mortdecaiย and his moustache romp into cinemas on 23rdย January.
