To many this maybe last chance saloon for Johnny Depp if you go by his recent track record and in Black Mass hoe goes all out gangster, watch new UK trailer. In the latest trailer Whitey Bulger (Depp) gives some fatherly advice to his son “If Nobody Sees It, It Didn’t Happen”…
Only 4 weeks after we got teased with the first trailer which showcased how unnerving, ruthless, most of all terrifying. In this new trailer it’s more balanced mixing the seriousness of the film with some humour which many crime thriller seem to lack, it’s a little reminiscent Goodfellas even the Sopranos. Depp really needs this one to work and though this may play much like a teaser again he may just pull it off. Hopefully his dependence on uniquely costumed characters may wilter a little and he can be Johnny Depp once again not always Captain Jack .
Black Mass sees us go back to 1970s South Boston, FBI Agent John Connolly (Joel Edgerton) persuades Irish mobster James “Whitey” Bulger (Johnny Depp) to collaborate with the FBI and eliminate a common enemy: the Italian mob. Black Mass tells the true story of this unholy alliance, which spiraled out of control, allowing Whitey to evade law enforcement, consolidate power, and become one of the most ruthless and powerful gangsters in Boston history.
The film also stars Benedict Cumberbatch as Whitey’s brother, Billy Bulger, a Massachusetts State Senator; Jesse Plemons as Whitey’s longtime partner in crime, Kevin Weeks; Dakota Johnson as Lindsey Cyr, Whitey’s former girlfriend and mother of his only child; Rory Cochrane as Steve Flemmi, another member of the Irish mob; Julianne Nicholson as John Connolly’s wife, Marianne; and Adam Scott as FBI Agent Robert Fitzpatrick. Rounding out the main cast are David Harbour, Jeremy Strong, Brad Carter, W. Earl Brown and Corey Stoll.
Black Mass now has a new UK release date of 13th November (USA 18th September )
