Deadline is reporting that John Malkovich and Mark Ruffalo have joined the cast of Martin McDonagh’s next feature film.
Additional reporting by Variety has confirmed Parker Posey will also be joining the cast. Malkovich, Ruffalo, and Posey will star alongside Sam Rockwell who was previously announced to be attached to the project back in 2021.
2025 will be a big year for all three of the newly announced actors. Malkovich will be appearing in Opus and The Fantastic Four. Ruffalo is set for Mickey 17 and Now You See Me 3. And Posey will next be seen in the highly anticipated third season of The White Lotus.
Wild Horse Nine’s plot is being closely guarded, but the film is set to begin shooting in March in Rapa Nui. Rapa Nui is the indigenous name for Easter Island. Easter Island is one of the most isolated inhabited islands in the world and a protected wildlife area.

McDonagh is also no stranger to awards buzz. His last two films Three Billboards and The Banshees of Inisherin both earnt Best Picture and Best Original Screenplay nominations at the Academy Awards. As with all of his previous films McDonagh will write and direct Wild Horse Nine.
Martin McDonagh is reteaming with Searchlight Pictures for Wild Horse Nine. Blueprint Pictures and Film4 are producing.
