John Hillcoat may have not made many films but when he does, he delivers and today we get our first look at his next one Triple 9. When it’s bleak dramas the Australian filmmaker has become master at that syle and in the red band trailer for the latest that vision continues with great precision.
Originally was set for Autumn release to target Oscar/Awards nominations but now set for early Spring 2016 release sees Hillcoat venture into Heist drama.The director is renowned for holding onto his ideas until the right moment and this was a originally set to star than actor who loves to wear bags on his head Shia LaBeouf. He went onto make Lawless with the director which shows how long this project has been on the cards, now with a fantastic ensembled cast now in its place.
Triple 9 centre’s on a crew of dirty cops who have to manufacture a 999, police code for “officer down” in order to pull off an impossible heist. Their plan is turned upside down when the unsuspecting rookie they set up to die foils the attack, triggering a breakneck, action-packed finale filled with double-crosses, greed and revenge.
The tone dark, grim and gritty but we don’t expect anything less! This is a Red Band Trailer so becareful where you play the trailer, it’s loaded with F-Bombs
In Triple 9 Casey Affleck leads the cast along with Chiwetel Ejiofor, Anthony Mackie, Norman Reedus, Teresa Palmer, Gal Gadot, Woody Harrelson, and Kate Winslet. No UK date has been confirmed yet with U.S release date is 19th February 2016.
