Jermaine Clement Joins The Cast Of The BFG

It’s been a while since Steven Spielberg graced us with a film soon Bridge Of Spies will be upon us his attention goes to his next film BFG which now has new cast member, Jermaine Clement.
Walt Disney Studios announce the day filming officially started on the latest adaptation of Roald Dahl classic book with the Flight of Conchords starone of many new cast members. Bill Hader, Rebecca Hall, Penelope Wilton are joining the cast next to Mark Rylance who will play the titular character ‘Big Friendly Giant’ next to Ruby Barnhill as Sophie.Trainwreck star Hader himself will play a giant too but not one of ‘friendly ones’, with Wilton the Queen and Hall Mary,the Queen’s Maid. There will be plenty of giants in this one with Michael David Adamthwaite, Daniel Bacon, Chris Gibbs, Adam Godley, Jonathan Holmes, Paul Moniz de Sa and Olafur Olaffson, all cast as ‘giants’.
The BFG is one of Dahl’s most treasured books a story about a young girl called Sophie who encounters a mysterious giant who captures good dreams giving them to good children. Doing this to destroy nightmares and prevent other giants eating Human ‘beans’.Dahl’s other books include Charlie and the Chocolate Factory,James and the Giant Peach, Matilda and Fantastic Mr. Fox, all books that have went onto to become feature films
“In more than 40 years of making movies, I have been on the producing end of a number of films for The Walt Disney Company, but never as a director,” said Steven Spielberg. “It is a special joy to be in the director’s chair as we start ‘The BFG,’ alongside my long-time friends and film collaborators Kathy Kennedy, who introduced me to this project, Frank Marshall and Melissa Mathison. Together with them and Disney, there are many reasons why I am so excited about this joint venture.”
The BFG will be released by Entertainment One across the UK on July 22, 2016, the year that coincides with the 100th anniversary of Roald Dahl‘s birth.
