Jake Gyllenhaal Not In For Suicide Squad But Who Could Be?

It was only a couple of days ago we learned the true reason for Tom Hardy‘s departure from Suicide Squad was down to the film’s script. Last week it was reported that Jake Gyllenhaal was to be offered the role of Rick Flag the military advisor/leader of the squad, but it seems The Nightcrawler star has passed up that chance. Variety are reporting Gyllenhaal’s said no to Flag, so with production getting close and the clock ticking whose next on the list?

Cinemablend are reporting  from a ‘source‘ one shared with Latino Review elmayimbe Warner Bros. have two potential actors lined up, Joel Edgerton and Jon Bernthal. It was Bernthal’s name that seems to the more popular choice as it seems since November director David Ayer has been lobbying the former Walking Dead actor to be Flag. Ayer’s knows the actor well as the pair worked together on Fury and the character he played in the WW2 tank drama even Walking Dead makes it a logical choice . Edgerton would be an interesting choice , you could say a underrated actor whose has had his fair share of meaty roles recently in Exodous with Christian Bale , Kathryn Bigelow’s Zero Dark Thirty a Military type psychotic he could deliver. Both are dependable and both may not be big Hollywood names  they are known and could give those cast members with big ego equal screen time.

In other Suicide Squad news it seems another role may have been filled. General Eiling  aka The General  maybe now lacing his cinematic shoes as Criminal Minds Gary Sinise is in talks to take up the role. A once villain to Atom  to become a thorn in the side to many of D.C heroes he got the ability to trasnform into a Hulk-like creature after taking the ‘Nazi Serum’. Clancy Brown was the last actor to play the role in Flash TV Series, however this is just a rumour so nothing is confirmed and if he is involved in the film he could be playing another role. One role he was connected was Deathstroke though Magic Mike/Sabotage actor Joe Manganeillo has been rumoured to be up for that role so like every gossip you hear take it with a pinch of salt.
