For years the sight of an Terrence Malick film at a cinema near you was a rarity but since The Tree Of Life the reclusive film director is on the verge of nearly doubling his filmography. Whilst the argument over his recent films have been more visually astute than critically successful will continue forever but it seems some folks have been waiting too long for films they are now taking action.

Once described by the directorย as “one of my greatest dreams.”, investorsย Seven Seas Partnership seem to be loosing patience on the film Voyage of Time been created that now they have filed a complaint with the New York Federal Court. Theyย allege in a lawsuit that the director has forgotten about making a film project and now they want their money back (believed to be around $3.3million mark) along with compensation.

Voyage Of Time seems to be a project we don’t know much about apart from it’s a documentary about an examination of the birth and death of the universe with Brad Pitt and Emma Thompson narrating. You could it will have similarities to The Tree Of Life like an extended version of when part when we saw the dinosaurs who then ruled the world.

An intriguing project ย which would be fantastic in IMAX which Seven Seas agreed on however the now allege the money they gave Malick was used to fundย The Tree Of Life,ย To The Wonderย andย Knight Of Cups.ย Voyage Of Time was meant to beย 45-minute Imax films and a 90-150 minute feature film version. The complaint also cites “an Academy Award-winning special effects artist” who has allegedly quit the non-existent film. Looking into related reportsย this person might be Mike Fink according to Empireย but there has been no official response confirming he is that person in question.

Seven Seas also allege Malick in 2012 also asked for more time on the project as well as more funding and refused to give his 100% attention to the project. Malick himself has yet to make a statement however that maybe highly unlikely due to the filmmaker’s reclusive lifestyle so any comment would come via Sycamore Pictures lawyers who have statedย “The claims of Seven Seas are without merit. The film was on budget, on schedule, and all funds were used appropriately. Additionally, Seven Seas’ decision to file this lawsuit under the cover of darkness and go public with accusations before presenting Sycamore with a copy of the suit itself speaks to the weakness of the allegations.

Imdb does say Voyage Of Time is in post production as is his next film Knight Of Cups with Nathalie Portman & Christian Bale. If everything does work out expect to see Voyage Of Time in cinema near you in 2014
