Is Christopher Nolan the mentor of Superman 3.0?

He’s probably the busiest director/producer in the comicbook/sci-fi Christopher Nolan and he is about to get more busier as Warner Bros want him to help reboot Superman this time.

Warner Bros are that confident there hottest property will be able to sprinkle some of his magic over D.C Comics other big prize Superman and get the man of steel flying again but he wont be directing. According to Deadline Hollywood Warner want Nolan to work as a “Godfather” type role over the new project, he will be only a mentor.

The project will be a whole new reboot not a sequel to Singer’s 2006 flick which was ok but not great and with Nolan on board it is hoped everything will be up and running it will bring the sucess and profit Dark Knight brought them. When Superman returns came out in 2006  a worldwide figure of about $390 million in sales whilst it cost $270million for the studio to make which is very poor return. But who will Nolan be the mentor to? Everyone from Brett Ratner, Mark Millar, MCG (who really needs a real lesson to direct a decent movie fullstop) and even Kevin Smith & JJ Abrams as screenwriters but all have dissappeared into the sunset. There was even talk of Singer returning.

Even with this revelation it doesnt mean a movie is on the cards, oh no it just simply is an sign that Warner Bros want this project to happen as well be success so there trying to make the first steps to get this baby rolling. With the formation of D.C Entertainment within Warner  they do have a similar scenario like with the Daredevil reboot/ Marvel Characters, they must create a new movie by as early as 2013 or simply loose all rights of the character which will go back to D.C.

As I said Christopher Nolan is going to be even more busier in the movieworld with Inception in post production and yesterday reports from Deadline again state  the obivious that a Dark Knight/ 3rd Batman movie from Nolan is getting closer to starting as well. As we know Christopher Nolan will only make another Batman movie if he has his writers in place, not Warner’s.

Warner Bros want another movie  that been common knowledge since movie 2 and David Goyer left his post at American tv show Flash Forward with only a few shows to go and has been stated to say it was due tohis feature projects resurfacing and he felt he was been pulled in too many directions. In this Deadline the reporter has stated that David has started writing the new script for the movie with Christopher Nolan’s brother Jonah (Jonathan), but everything is assumption at this stage.

If you where working on timelines for Batman movie 3 with Nolan you would say a new movie is on the cards for 2011 as movie 1 was 2005, the last one was 2008 and 3 years from that date its 2011. For now everything is still speculation and lets remember theres this summer’s goodie from Nolan to come, the movie everyone thought was movie 3….Inception!!!
