Is Adrien Brody Set To Join Damien Chazelle’s Evel Knievel Film?

After winning an Oscar for his role in The Brutalist, is Adrien Brody about to ‘leap’ into Damien Chazelle‘s Evel Knievel film?
According to Deadline, the discussions are still at the early stage. Going by the report, Brody‘s role in the film is unknown, THR reporting that role might be of Shelly Saltman. He was the author and sports promoter who was viciously attacked by Knievel with an aluminum bat.
The lead role looks like will be going to Leonardo DiCaprio. Chazelle said in the Deadline news story “No formal offer has gone out, and nothing can be done until DiCaprio closes his deal, the sources stressed”.
Evel Knievel On Tour looks like might be the film’s potential title. There is hope that filming will start during this coming Summer, but that will depend on negotiations getting closed.
Who was Evel Knievel? He was born Robert Craig Knievel in 1938 who would become one of the most famous entertainer of the 1970’s. A stuntman who had a no fear attitude with a motorcycle jumping ramp to ramp. Those stunt got crazier including jumping over buses, stunt making him a American pop culture icon in the 1970’s. Many of those stunts left Knievel in hospital, making him a regular in television and got him his own toy range.
The incident with Shelly Saltman, Knievel at him when Saltman was an executive at 20th Century Pictures. Injuring him dangerously sending the icon to prison and bankrupting hum. Evel Knievel would sadly die in 2007 aged 69 due to Diabetes related illness.
The world is Adrien Brody‘s oyster after his Oscar win. Like any awards win we’ll assume Brody will have many offers, will he want to be a lead or happy to be a supporting role? For Damien Chazelle he is currently working on an unnamed prison drama for Paramount.
