The Inbetweeners Movie Has The Biggest Opening Of All Time For A UK Comedy
“Playerzzz!!!” – After the fantastic opening weekend for Channel 4 comedy series The Inbetweeners feature length film things have only got better at the box office. The opening weekend took in an amazing £2.5 million at the box office which is fantastic for UK box office but now officially 4 days into the movies run they movie has raked in an amazing £13.2 million!!!! These figures cement the fact this tv show was so popular and that popularity has made this movie the biggest opening for a UK comedy overtaking Bridget Jones Diary (£10.43million) with Wallace & Gromit: Curse of The Were Rabbit 3rd with £9.37 million!
Entertainment Film Distributors have sent us a press release which ive included in this post, so does this mean we could have a second In Betweeners movie? Possibly and if going on the figures just mentioned the evidence is there that another movie would go down well with British fans. But like The Office which finished in a Blaze of Glory will The Inbetweeners decide enough is enough and decide that more movies will just spoil the broth and the great memories of the series and film? Comedy takes over £13 million
London, UK – Entertainment Film Distributors is delighted to announce that The Inbetweeners Movie is the Number 1 film in the UK & Ireland and has had the biggest opening of all time for a UK comedy. The film has stormed to the top of the box office, taking £13,196,422from 455 sites.
The number 2 biggest opening British comedy is Bridget Jones: Edge of Reason taking £10.43 million, number 3 is Wallace & Gromit: Curse of the Were-Rabbit with £9.37 million, Mamma Mia! takes the number 4 position with £6.59 million and Mr. Bean’s Holiday is number 5 with £6.44 million.
Producer Chris Young comments “We are thrilled that The Inbetweeners Movie is the biggest opening of all time for a UK comedy. We really want to thank all the cinema goers out there who have made the film such a huge success.”
