For Freedom. For Family. For the Planet. Apes may be strong together, the new trailer shows the world is cold, calculated and ready to destroy the fragile fabric of peace looks to have been torn. In War for the Planet of the Apes, the third chapter of the critically acclaimed blockbuster franchise, Caesar (Andy Serkis) and his apes are forced into a deadly conflict with an army of humans led by a ruthless Colonel. After the apes suffer unimaginable losses, Caesar wrestles with his darker instincts and begins his own mythic quest to avenge his kind. As the journey finally brings them face to face, Caesar and the Colonel are pitted against each other in an epic battle that will determine the fate of both their species and the future of the planet.
The above trailer made its debut at ComicCon revealing no way back after the first strike. Things look gloomy, it’s darkest and heaviest tone of the three movies, with lots of reflection of hats happened and about to happen. Though this franchise will go on for at least a fourth movie, this does tease this maybe the end of the road for Caesar. We’ll assume the apes will win this war or find themselves to use Caesar’s mythology an inspiration to rise once again if they don’t? This movie has a big ode to Apocalypse Now through Woody Harrelson‘s character and who is that little girl the apes look after? we also get a look at Steve Zahn‘s ‘bad Ape’ who serves the humans but will he rise up? If this is Matt Reeves last chapter, he can leave proud of recreating on the best sci-fi franchises in modern cinematic history.
The War For The Planet Of The Apes is set for a UK, Irish release on 14th July.Co-starring Judy Greer, Karin Konoval and Terry Notary.
