In Our Kind Of Traitor we meet an ordinary English couple, Perry (Ewan McGregor) and Gail (Naomie Harris), befriend a flamboyant and charismatic Russian, Dima (Stellan Skarsgård), who unbeknownst to them is a kingpin money launderer for the Russian mafia.

When Dima asks for their help to deliver classified information to the British Secret Services, Perry and Gail get caught in a dangerous world of international espionage and dirty politics. The couple is propelled on a perilous journey through Paris and Bern, a safe house in the French Alps, to the murky corners of the City of London and an alliance with the British Government via a ruthless and determined MI6 agent (Damian Lewis).

le Carré if anyone is the best writer the most calculated, taut true essence of the Cold War era, some may argue the Cold War never truly ended. A good reason why his books are so refreshing but also so contemporary and when adapted they don’t feel so out of place. Espionage is a dirty game le Carré is a master at delivering it at it’s cruelest most dangerous form. With a few exceptions British film has not had the best of time recently and this may help the cause and a genre we seem to do well in. Solid cast, looks a very gripping film to look forward too.

Our Kind Of Traitor is set for a UK cinema release of 6th May. The film is directed by Susanna White (Boardwalk Empire) and based on a Script by Hossein Amini (Drive).
