The film marks the award winning singer, writer, actor directorial feature debut. No surprise it’s music based and today Netflix unveil the new Trailer which has Andrew Garfield singing!
November is a busy month for Miranda with Disney’s Encanto which he has wrote original songs. 2021 he’s voiced the titular character in Netflix’s animation Vivo, in the Summer he was involved in Jon M.Chu’s In The Heights. Will his directorial feature debut be a success?
Garfield plays Jonathan Larsson, the talented composer who revolutionised modern theatre in the 1990’s. He created one of the most successful musicals, Rent in Broadway history. Sadly he died before he could see his work be an success.

Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award winner Lin-Manuel Miranda makes his feature directorial debut with tick, tick…BOOM!, an adaptation of the autobiographical musical by Jonathan Larson, who revolutionized theatre as the creator of Rent. The film follows Jon (Academy Award nominee and Tony Award winner Andrew Garfield), a young theatre composer who’s waiting tables at a New York City diner in 1990 while writing what he hopes will be the next great American musical. Days before he’s due to showcase his work in a make-or-break performance, Jon is feeling the pressure from everywhere: from his girlfriend Susan, who dreams of an artistic life beyond New York City; from his friend Michael, who has moved on from his dream to a life of financial security; amidst an artistic community being ravaged by the AIDS epidemic. With the clock ticking, Jon is at a crossroads and faces the question everyone must reckon with: What are we meant to do with the time we have?
The film also stars Alexandra Shipp, Robin de Jesús, Joshua Henry, MJ Rodriguez, Bradley Whitford, Tariq Trotter, with Judith Light, and Vanessa Hudgens.
tick, tick…BOOM! will be released first in select UK cinemas from 12th November, then on Netflix from 19th November.
